The government hopes to complete a nationwide COVID vaccination within an year, Covid-19 Vaccine Committee Chairman and Senior Advisor to the President, Lalith Weerathunga today said.
Speaking at a press briefing held today, he further stated that the vaccination process will be completed with a combination of vaccines and not just the utilisation of one vaccine.
“We will be testing the Sinopharm vaccines from China and the Sputnik vaccine from Russia once we have received the WHO and NMRA approval for those vaccines. The Chinese Government has also promised us a provision of 300,000 vaccines once it has been approved,” Weerathunga said.
