The government seems to follow all the guidelines given by the World Health Organisation (WHO) in terms of COVID-19 except for the instructions on disposal of COVID-19 victims’ bodies, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said today. Speaking at an event held in Guruthalawa, MP Premadasa said Muslims have become helpless due to mandatory cremation of COVID-19 victims. “The WHO clearly says there is no issue in burying COVID victims. The government always says that it follows WHO guidelines but when it comes to disposal of bodies, the government says ‘cremation only’,” he said adding that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya was against the mandatory cremation.
