Govt. MPs oppose release of audios

Government parliamentarians today opposed the release of Ranjan Ramanayake's audio recordings. Parliamentarian Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe speaking during today's parliamentary session said that the audios should not be released due to obscene content. Rajapakshe said if such content was released it would corrupt the minds of the public and urged Speaker Karu Jayasuriya to reverse the decision to release the leaked audios. He further noted  that there was  no legal provision to table and release such audios in Parliament. The Party Leaders who convened last Friday to decided to release the audios this week. The week before a decision was taken to remove all 'harmful' contents in the audios.
MP Ranjan Ramanayake who is currently in remand custody had submitted a CD containing telephone recordings to Parliament’s Hansard Department last month.
