Govt. says review report on MCC in four months

21 Jan 2020

The newly appointed committee to review the $ 480 million Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement has been given four months to submit its report, Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said today. Gunawardena expressed these views at the parliamentary session today. He said once the reports were received it would be tabled in parliament. On the 19 of December a four-member committee was appointed by the new government to study the proposed MCC agreement and make recommendations on its merits and demerits of the agreement. The government said the MCC agreement was temporarily halted until the four member committee completes its analysis. The committee chaired by Prof. Gunaruwan comprises former Transport Ministry Secretary D.S. Jayaweera, Attorney-at-Law Nihal Jayawardena PC, and Nalaka Jayaweera.
