The Government has taken a decision not to sign the US Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement, Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana told The Morning.
Dr. Pathirana said the decision was taken based on advise and findings of the MCC Review Committee.
A four member committee was appointed on 1 January 2020 to study the proposed US MCC Compact.
The Committee was appointed following a Cabinet decision taken on 18 December 2019.
The Committee headed by Dr. Lalithasiri Gunaruwan includes former Transport Ministry Secretary D.S. Jayaweera, President’s Counsel Nihal Jayawardena and chartered architect Nalaka Jayaweera.
