The Government has made plans to establish a factory to manufacture sailing vessels for the promotion of the tourism industry, said State Minister Jayantha Samaraweera today.
"The coastline around the island is a major attraction among foreign tourists and we need to capitalise on that. The production of sailing vessels for tourists can be done through the public sector," he said.
State Minister Samaraweera has taken steps to look into the possibility of setting up a sailing factory by the government. The land to be used in the Lunama area in Ambalantota was also inspected by the State Minister. He also inspected a private sail factory in the area.
