The cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to store 20,000 MT to 35,000 MT of rice to stabilize the rice prices during the year.
Accordingly, the rice will be stored in the Minuwangoda Rice Storage Facility.
Co-cabinet Spokesperson Bandula Gunawardana speaking at the cabinet press briefing today (13) said the government will purchase rice from suppliers when there is an over supply of rice in the market and will issue rice from the storage when the the supply is short in order to stabilize prices.
