The Government is hoping to streamline the freight cargo export process to minimise time spent on the ground.
State Minister of Development of Aviation and Export Zones D.V. Chanaka said he would receive a proposal from the relevant authorities by Monday (14).
“I have spoken to the various authorities such as the Customs Department and the Air Force to suggest ways to reduce time consumption in the export process of freight cargo.”
The Minister noted that at present, it took more than three hours for cargo to reach the national carrier SriLankan Airlines.
“What has been suggested is that all the checking and authorisation be done in one location instead of five separate locations as it is currently done,” he stated.Govt. to streamline freight cargo export process
