Reassuring the farmers of Sri Lanka who have been struggling with fertiliser shortages for the cultivation of their crops, Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage stated that a programme to provide an uninterrupted supply of organic fertilizer for the Maha season is now being implemented.
Accordingly, the programme is set to commence from the Ampara District in September. 15 litres each of bio-fertilizer along with adequate Potassium and Nitrogen will be provided. Further, if farmers fulfill their organic fertilizer requirements themselves, they will receive Rs.15,000 each from the Government.
The Minister expressed these views, while participating in the Saubhagya Sustainable Agriculture Development Anuradhapura District programme on Tuesday (27).
