Grace period to pay traffic fines at post offices ends tomorrow

14 Jan 2021

The extended grace period granted to pay traffic fines at post offices would come to end tomorrow, Postmaster General Ranjith Ariyaratne said today. From tomorrow, fines can be paid at post offices within 14 days since committing a traffic offence without being subjected to late charges. People can also pay fines between 14 days to 28 days since committing the offence but will have to pay late charges. “The post offices will not accept fine statements that have expired 28 days. However, as per a request made by the Police Department, the fine statements issued by the Colombo city traffic police and the police emergency unit can be paid using the previous grace period until February 8,” he said.
