The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau says that a special investigation has been launched into the minor tremor that occurred near the Victoria Dam yesterday (16). A magnitude 1.94 tremor shook the Victoria Dam yesterday afternoon. However, the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau said there was no need to be unduly apprehensive in this regard. Commenting on this, the Chairman of the Bureau Anura Walpola said, “A small earthquake has occurred in the Kumarigama area just below the Victoria Dam. There is a possibility of water collecting in the air holes associated with the dolomite holes, however, further investigations are being carried out. "
