Guidelines for goods delivery personnel

23 Apr 2020

The Police yesterday issued new guidelines for vendors carrying out door-to-door mobile sales and delivery of essential goods. The guidelines have been issued after considering the possibility of Covid-19 spreading through the delivery of goods to consumers. Accordingly, home delivery service providers of essential items will have to wear gloves and disposable face masks or cover their faces, wear fully covered shoes and clean clothes, and continuously use hand sanitisers or disinfectants when engaging in sales. Also, vendors engaged in the sale and delivery of bakery items must refrain from touching the goods and instead use equipment to hand over goods to customers, using paper bags or paper to wrap the bakery items. As for money transactions, vendors have been requested to refrain from touching food items after exchanging money with consumers. Meanwhile, consumers have also been requested to wear face masks and maintain a distance of one metre from mobile delivery vehicles. The Police have added that the curfew passes of vendors who fail to adhere to these safety precautions will be cancelled.
