President Gotabaya Rajapaksa now says the Hambanthota Port will not be renegotiated as it is a commercial contract.
Rajapaksa expressed these views when he met with Foreign correspondents at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday(19).
The President stressed that commercial contracts could not be changed with governments.
However, he said it was important that the security aspects pertaining to the agreement are analysed.
"It is important that the Sri Lanka Government has the control of all Security aspects just as with the other ports in terms of the ships that enter the Port and matters concerning the boarder controls."
