[caption id="attachment_140392" align="alignleft" width="407"] Hashan Tillakaratne (who bats here) was an integral part of the Sri Lanka team especially in the 1990s[/caption]Former Sri Lanka cricket Captain Hashan Tillakaratne has been appointed as the Head Coach of the Sri Lanka national women’s cricket team by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) yesterday (2).
The 54-years-old left-handed stylish wicket-keeper batsman Tillakaratne represented D.S. Senanayake College, Colombo in schools cricket. He represented NCC from 1984 until 2004 in domestic cricket. He scored 13,253 runs in first-class cricket.
Tillakaratne represented the Sri Lanka from 1989 until 2004. He scored 4,545 runs with 11 centuries and 20 half-centuries in 83 Test matches. He scored 3,789 runs with two centuries and 13 half-centuries in 200 ODI matches. He was a member of the 1996 World Cup winning team.
Tillakaratne was earlier appointed as the Head Coach of the Sri Lanka Under-19 team and later was attached to the High Performance Unit of SLC. He coached the Kandy Tuskers team in the inaugural Lanka Premier League (LPL) last year.
