The Ministry of Health today issued 'Tier-3' COVID-19 preventive health guidelines to be followed by the people in the areas where the curfew has not been imposed. The guidelines which were issued by Health Services Director General Dr. Asela Gunawardane said the COVID-19 situation in the country was subjected to change from time to time. Accordingly, Sri Lanka's current COVID-19 situation has been assessed as Tier-3 where several clusters are active in different districts. The health guidelines have limited the number of people who can leave a house for essential services to two and added essential services should be provided with a minimum possible workforce at institutions. "Working from home is encouraged at all times at both government and private institutions. Export industries can be operated in a ‘Bio Secure Bubble’ concept under the observations of the Medical Officer of Health on the area and social distancing should be maintained in public,” it said. However, no permission would be given for indoor or outdoor events, public meetings, schools, universities and tuition classes. Cinema halls, recreational parks, festivals and swimming pools should also remain closed. Restaurants can be operated with a 50 per cent capacity.
