Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi has instructed the Department of Health to monitor whether the economic centres, rent houses, schools, and investment promotion zones (under the Board of Investment) in the Western Province are complying with the health guidelines issued to curb the Covid-19 situation in the country.
When the Covid-19 Virus Control Performance Action Review Committee convened yesterday (18), the Minister has also decided to increase the number of Covid-19 treatment beds, increase the number of beds in the emergency medical service, improve the accuracy of PCR tests performed in laboratories, and provide training on Covid emergency medical services to post-internship medical officers.
Wanniarachchi has further instructed the officials to pay full attention to the health of all healthcare staff and to improve their transport, accommodation, and other infrastructure facilities.
