Health Trade Unions to commence protest

10 Jun 2021

The Health Trade Union Confederation says that trade union action will have to be implemented as negotiations did not yield the desired results. During the discussion with the Minister of Health yesterday (09), the union further stated that none of the main demands made other than the request for the confirmation of health worker assistants, were met with acceptable solutions. Accordingly, all the trade unions in the committee have unanimously decided to continue the trade union protest which was scheduled to take place tomorrow (11) morning. The Health Trade Union Confederation further states that despite trade union action, it will continue to cover emergency and essential services for Covid patients. The demands made by the association are as follows. 1. Provide a reasonable allowance for other non-medical health staff in comparison to the 78 percent increase in the additional allowance for medical service staff from 41,220 to 78,120 per month. 2. Failure to make a definite decision to fill the health staff vacancies that have been an obstacle to fighting the pandemic. 3. Eliminate cuts in health staff allowances and eliminate allowance anomalies. 4. Providing free transport facilities for health personnel on Covid-19 duty.
