The Department of Meteorology has forecasted showers or thundershowers in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North Western, and Central Provinces as well as in the Galle and Matara Districts during the first half of the day, with heavy rainfalls above 100 mm predicted at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central Provinces and in the Galle and Matara Districts.
Showers or thundershowers could occur at several places in the Uva, Eastern, and North Central provinces as well as in the Mullaitivu and Vavuniya Districts in the evening or night.
Possible coastal inundation is expected along the coast extending from Kalutara to Pottuvil via Galle and Hambantota due to the effect of swell waves. People living in coastal areas are requested to be vigilant in this regard.
