The Hela Bodu Saviya has expressed its support to Myanmar's leader Aung San Suu Kyi over her Rohingya genocide trial.
The Hela Bodu Saviya handed over a letter to the Myanmar Ambassador at the Myanmar Embassy in Colombo today.
Aung San Suu Kyi was tried at the UN international court hearing in Netherlands last week for genocide and atrocities against Muslim Rohingya. According to UN inspectors, Myanmar's brutal security crackdown in Rakhine state in 2017, drove more than 700,000 Rohingya into Bangladesh. Myanmar security forces have been also accused of rape and other sexual violence against the Rohingya and the “systematic destruction by fire” of villages, “often with inhabitants locked inside burning houses”.
