While addressing the media before entering the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) this morning, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Patali Champika Ranawaka stated that the move to summon him to the CID showcases the “helplessness” of the Government.
Ranawaka stated that he was summoned over a project which was launched during his term as the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development.
"The helplessness of the Government is quite evident now. When we tabled out the evidence in regard to the Easter Attacks, the Government was speechless. This is a scene created by the Government to distract people and cause racial and religious conflicts using the media,” he said.
He went on to say that the Government is provoking the media to cover such things as a distraction from actual problems faced by the country, and mentioned that he is truly appalled by this.
Earlier today, Ranawaka's Media Secretary confirmed to The Morning that the CID summons was due to the Pannaraya campaign which was launched during Ranawaka's tenure.
