Helpline introduced for those addicted to drugs & their close contacts

The National Dangerous Drugs Control Board (NDDCB) today introduced a helpline ‘1927’ for those who are addicted to drugs and their close contacts, so that they can have access to treatment and counselling services during the COVID-19 pandemic. NDDCB Chairman Dr. Laknath Welagedara said those who are addicted to drugs have become a vulnerable group to COVID-19 virus. “They face a number of difficulties when accessing to treatment and counselling services due to the pandemic. Now, they can obtain services from the 24-hour helpline which will operate in Sinhala, Tamil and English,” he said.
