The highest number of Covid-19 infections was reported from the Colombo district yesterday (13). That number is 643.
However, more than 200 cases were reported from the North Central Province yesterday, where a significant number of Covid-19 cases had not been reported before.
Accordingly, Covid-19 cases have been identified in 24 districts of the country. 126 cases were reported from Anuradhapura and 80 from Polonnaruwa. Meanwhile 174 cases have been reported from Ratnapura, 135 from Galle, 100 from Kurunegala and 121 from Kalutara. Also, 301 cases have been identified in the Gampaha district, 91 in Kegalle, 67 in Nuwara Eliya and 61 in Kandy. Meanwhile, 73,955 people in the country were vaccinated against Covid yesterday under the Covid-19 immunization program. The Epidemiology Unit said that the second dose of Covishield vaccine was given to 9,695 people and the first dose of Sinopharm vaccine was given to 64,260 people. Accordingly, 1,154,795 people in the country have been given the first dose under the Covid control vaccination program.
