Police Media Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana stated that a total of 914 individuals were arrested yesterday (29) for not wearing face masks in public, not maintaining social distance and disregarding quarantine rules and regulations.
The DIG highlighted that this was the highest number of quarantine law violators arrested within a period of 24 hours to date.
Since the Police have been enforcing quarantine laws since 30 October 2020, 17,300 people have been arrested for failing to adhere to them.
