Highest turnout in H'tota and Batty; Lowest turnout in Puttalam District

By Maheesha Mudugamuwa The overall voter turnout recorded in 12 electoral districts had crossed 70%, with the highest turnout of 76% observed in the Hambantota and Batticaloa Districts at the parliamentary election, which ended at 5 p.m. yesterday (5), The Morning learnt. According to statistics, the lowest voter turnout was recorded from the Puttalam District – 64% – and the second highest voter turnout was recorded from the Nuwara Eliya and Monaragala Districts with 75%. Meanwhile, a 74% voter turnout was recorded from the Badulla District while the voter turnout of Vanni, Trincomalee, and Digamadulla was recorded at 73% in each electoral district. The voter turnout of Matale, Polonnaruwa, and Kandy was 72%. Ratnapura recorded a 71% voter turnout, while Anuradhapura, Kegalle, Colombo, Kalutara, and Galle recorded a 70% turnout. Meanwhile, Matara, Gampaha, Kurunegala, Jaffna, and Puttalam recorded voter turnouts of 71%, 68%, 65%, 67%, and 64%, respectively.
