On Friday, 31st January the full cast of the West End transfer of Life of Pi was announced after its successful run at the Sheffield Crucible Theatre in 2019.
Heading the cast as Pi will be Sri Lankan Hiran Abeysekera, who will be reprising his role for which he won the UK Theater Award for ‘Best Performance in a Play’ last year.
Best known for his performance as Pi, he has also appeared in Peter Pan, Royal Shakespeare Company productions of Cymbeline and Hamlet and a production of Tartuffe. Hiran can also be seen on screen as Dash Khan in Hulu’s Find Me In Paris.
While the Sheffield Theater production was the first major stage production of Life of Pi despite the novel, from which it is adapted, and the film both being major hits, the play's success is evident as it received five-star reviews and is moving on to the West End for its run at Wyndham's Theatre from June 2020.Hiran Abeysekera to head cast of Pi
