A network of home shops will be established throughout the country targeting 25,000 young women entrepreneurs to boost their livelihood, the Chairman of Presidential Task Force on Economic Revival and Poverty Eradication Basil Rajapaksa said.
He was speaking at an awareness programme held for Samurdhi Development Department Managers and Social Development Officers at Temple Trees.
“About 25,000 entrepreneurs will be selected from Samurdhi recipient families. A home-based economic development programme is to be implemented for 200,000 Samurdhi families as well,” he said.
Rajapaksa said that Samurdhi officers should take the lead in eradicating poverty in all sectors.
