A homemade bomb, an automatic pistol, ammunition and a 12 bore gun were seized during a special anti-firearms operation conducted covering various police areas yesterday, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He said a 29-year-old has been arrested by the Kadawatha Police with the homemade bomb and added that he would be produced before a magistrate today.
The Welioya Police has arrested another suspects with the automatic pistol and seven ammunition. A motorbike has also been taken into the custody.
Meanwhile, the Seethawakapura Anti-Vice Squad has arrested three suspects on charges of possessing firearms at Deraniyagala. A 12 bore firearm was recovered.
