The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka(HRCSL) has written to the Election commission raising concerns over false news on social media regarding the process of marking the ballot paper.
HRCSL has stressed that if such processes were followed by the public their respective votes would be deemed invalid.
The Human Rights Commission has requested the polls body to issue notices on print and electronic media in order to educate the voters on the correct way of marking a ballot paper.
