Human rights cases filed against police officers: relief to be provided says Sarath

16 Oct 2021

While pointing out that several human rights cases have been filed against police officers for carrying out their duties, Minister of Public Security Rear Admiral Dr. Sarath Weerasekera says that failure to complete charge sheets against such officers within a period of six months will lead to the same being revoked. He made these statements during a Community Police Empowerment Program held in Kandy today (16). He also added that because some officers have long-standing charge sheets, along with shortcomings in mechanisms, a programme will be put in place to rectify such issues.
