Ideal Motors to launch maxitruck by end June

04 Mar 2021

Ideal Motors, authorised vehicle dealer for Indian multinational automotive manufacturing corporation, Mahindra in Sri Lanka is set to launch the latest MaxiTruck by end of June this year.   “We are about to launch our MaxiTruck. There is something different about this also,” Ideal Group Founder and Executive Chairman Nalin Welgama noted recently. “As our market share is 60%, we learned a lot from this figure. What we learned is consumers are going to appreciate and value our products if they are provided with a personalised product from our manufacturing site,” he added. It was also highlighted that Ideal Motors have received 1,200 car orders so far this year. Out of which, the car dealer is only able to supply 550. However, the company hopes to supply the rest during the course of this year. It was also mentioned that by the end of 2021, 2,000 locally manufactured Mahindra cars would be available in the market. Also, the value addition to both the Mahindra car and maxitruck are 30% and 35%, respectively. “This truck is made for Sri Lanka. This is a huge success which is going to emerge. Consumers can go to our 40 showrooms and choose for themselves the maximum extent of personalisation. The consumers will give their specifications, likes, and dislikes where we will provide a price to the consumer and thus, we make it for them.” Ideal Motors also reported that the electric versions of the Mahindra cars will be brought into the country as well. Also, the electric vehicle prices are reported to be a similar price to other Mahindra cars. Furthermore, the target manufacturer’s aim from June to December was to manufacture an estimated 1,200 vehicles by the end of the year. Ideal Motors also announced its greatest wish of importing electric vehicle manufacturing technology. “There were a lot of discussions which the Ministry of Industries, with the leadership of (Minister Wimal) Weerawansa, had with assemblers and potential assemblers. In 2015, Alto sold 55,000 units. There is a market; Sri Lanka needs to start somewhere.” Furthermore, Mahindra is planning to export diesel vehicles to Bangladesh where the assembly of the vehicles will take place in the country and Sri Lanka will directly export the vehicles to Bangladesh.
