UNF Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne has called for the immediate resignation of the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Senaratne made this statement addressing a media conference at Temple Trees today.
The Minister said that despite receiving the information, authorities have been unable to take necessary action.
“This is bigger than one group, it is an act of terrorism on a much larger scale,” Senaratne charged.
According to the Minister, international intelligence agencies had warned of these attacks on 4 April.
He noted that the reports received had said targets were churches and tourist destinations and the IGP was informed about it on 9 April, including names of the suspected terrorists.
