IHC’s Defence Wing conducts webinar to strengthen Indo-SL co-operation

A webinar was conducted by the Defence Wing of the Indian High Commission (IHC) on 13 January 2021 at Hotel Taj Samudra as part of India’s commitment to positively contribute towards the capability building of the Sri Lanka Armed Forces, the Indian High Commission said.  Officers of the India and Sri Lanka Armed Forces, along with representatives from Indian defence manufacturing companies, attended the webinar, which was chaired by Deputy High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka Vinod K. Jacob and Sri Lanka Army’s Chief Signal Officer Maj. Gen. A.W.A.P.K. Thilakarathne. The Sri Lankan delegation had a large number of representatives participating from all three services.  The Deputy High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka highlighted the impetus being given by India to further the interest of Sri Lankan defence forces and the opportunities that can be provided by the highly evolved defence production industry in India. During the webinar, products of interest of Sri Lankan defence forces were presented with the aim that such interactions with Sri Lanka Armed Forces would valuably contribute in effectively countering common security threats in the region and towards the realisation of India’s vision of Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR).
