IMF to look into new fund programme for SL after April

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will look into a possible new fund programme for Sri Lanka after April this year, according to IMF Communications Department Gerry Rice.

Rice was speaking to reporters during the IMF press briefing held in Washington yesterday.

Asked if there will be a new program with Sri Lanka after the parliamentary polls this year, Rice said during the recent staff visit, Sri Lankan authorities had expressed interest in a range of options for future engagement with the Fund.

He added that the specifics will however be discussed after the seventh and final review of the IMF Extended Fund Facility (EFF) takes place after mid-April.

The IMF Extended Fund Facility (EFF) will expire on 2 June this year.
