The Import levy on potatoes has been reduced, the Finance Ministry said today. Accordingly, the levy has been reduced from Rs. 50 to Rs.25 per kg with effect from midnight today. The Finance Ministry said this measure was taken due to the hike in prices of vegetables in the market. The Ministry added that a local produce of potatoes is expected to flood the market by February next year.
