An individual believed to be the brother-in-law of the notorious underworld figure ‘Ran Malli’ has been taken into custody in the Pannipitiya area, Police Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said.
Accordingly, a stock of cash amounting to over Rs 13.9 million had been found buried inside a house in the Hiripitiya area in Kottawa.
It is suspected that the suspect may have been hiding the money earned through the drug trafficking activities of ‘Ran Malli’.
Underworld figure Charith Sandakelum alias ‘Ran Malli’, who is also an associate of ‘Harak Kata’, is currently residing in Dubai evading arrest.
