State Minister of COVID Prevention Sudharshini Fernandopulle today said that Sri Lanka will not be affected by India's decision to halt vaccine exportation.
She said that the necessary doses needed for the vaccination drive have been purchased and an additional 500,000 doses of the AstraZeneca is also scheduled to arrive soon.
In addition, the government has also given approval for the import of seven million doses of the Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine.
It is reported that India's decision has been taken as the relevant vaccine needs to be given to Indians as the local demand has increased.
According to foreign media reports, the export of the AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured in India will be stopped until the end of April.
