India take first day’s honours at MCG, bowl out Australia for 195

Marnus Labuschagne top-scored for the Aussies with 48. Play ended just short of the stipulated 90 overs, with India at 36/1 in 11 overs, thanks largely to debutant opener Shubman Gill’s 28 not out. Giving him company is Cheteshwar Pujara (7 not out) after Gill lost his fellow opener Mayank Agarwal (0) early to Mitchell Starc. India trail Australia by 159 runs.
