India to provide $100 m loan for solar power development in Sri Lanka

The Indian government has agreed to provide a $ 100 million loan facility to kick start Sri Lanka's Solar power project. The funds will be provided through Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM Bank). The project will see solar panels installed on state buildings to fulfill daily electricity requirements. The projects aims to also bring electricity to rural households. Accordingly, solar panels will be provided to low income households in Hambantota, Monaragala, Anuradhapura, Mannar and  Trincomalee.
