India Women start series with massive win

India Women’s opening batswomen Smriti Mandhana scored an unbeaten 73 runs in 76 deliveries

India women’s cricket team beat their Sri Lankan counterparts by nine wickets in their first ODI held at the Galle International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, 11 September.

Sri Lanka Women who won the toss and elected to bat were bowled out for 98 runs in 35.1 overs.

Skipper Chamari Atapattu scored 33 runs and Sripali Weerakkody scored 26. Mansi Joshi took three wickets for 16 runs for India. Poonam Yadav and Jhulan Goswami took two wickets each.

In their reply, India Women scored 100 runs for just one wicket in 19.5 overs.

Opener, the right-handed batswomen Smriti Mandhana scored an unbeaten 73 runs in just 76 deliveries with 11 boundaries and two sixes. Punam Raut scored 24 runs.

Inoka Ranaweera took the only wicket to fall, for five runs.
