Indian funding to power the House

24 Jul 2021

Parliament is to meet its power requirement through a floating solar plant that is to be installed in the near future, according to Minister of Power Dullas Alahapperuma. In fact, the country’s floating solar power plant is to be set up at the Diyawanna Lake. Alahapperuma told Parliament last week that the Government is working towards meeting the target of 70% of the country’s power requirement through renewable energy. The recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Sri Lanka and India for a $ 100 million line of credit to develop renewable energy generation in the country is to also include the floating solar power plant in the Diyawanna Lake to power the Parliament complex.
