Indian High Commissioner Gopal Baglay officially handed over the consignment of COVID-19 vaccines to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake today.
President Rajapaksa said, "We received 500,000 COVID-19 vaccines provided by the people of India at today. We would like to thank PM Narendra Modi and the people of India for the generosity shown towards the people of Sri Lanka at this time in need."
State Ministers Prof. Channa Jayasumana and Dr, Sudarshani Fernandopulle, Minister Prasanna Ranatunga, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva and Senior Advisor to President and COVID Vaccine Committee Chairman Lalith Weeratunga were also present at the occasion.
