Indian suspect claims of attempt to kill him

An Indian national being investigated as part of a probe on an alleged plot to assassinate President Maithripala Sirisena and other VVIPs, told court today that there was a threat to his life. The Indian appeared in court today and made a statement. Court was also told that the voice recordings of former DIG Nalaka de Silva and activist Namal Kumara match. The Government analyst department informed court that 123 of 124 voice clips recorded off a conversation held between former DIG Nalaka de Silva and activist Namal Kumara had found to match their voices. Police are investigating a claim of a plot to assassinate President Maithripala Sirisena and former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Details of the plot emerged from a telephone conversation between former DIG Nalaka de Silva and activist Namal Kumara.
