Indo-Lanka dialogue continues India’s NSA meets President Speaks with Prime Minister as well By Skandha Gunasekara President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday (18) held a one-on-one meeting with India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval KC where issues ranging from counter-terrorism, intelligence co-operation, and economic development in the Indo-Pacific region were discussed. Doval engaged in a one-day visit to Sri Lanka yesterday and had a lunch meeting with the President, sources from the Indian High Commission said. During the discussion, Doval had pledged $ 50 million on behalf of India to Sri Lanka to procure state-of-the-art intelligence gathering equipment. President’s Media Director Mohan Samaranayake told The Sunday Morning that the duo had met around 11 a.m. yesterday and discussed a range of topics related to national security. During discussions it had also been agreed to strengthen military co-operation as well as maritime co-operation. Furthermore, India had expressed its desire to support Sri Lanka’s intelligence services, particularly in the field of intelligence gathering. Doval had also had a brief conversation with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa over the telephone as the latter was out of Colombo yesterday.
