Inform authorities if suffering from NCDs: Residents of housing complexes in Colombo urged

Residents in housing complexes that are placed under quarantine were urged to inform the authorities if they are suffering from any Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs). In a statement, the Health Ministry said the residents living in the housing complexes of Muwadora Uyana, Sirimuthu Uyana, Sirisanda Sevana, Randiya Uyana, Methsada Sevana, Minijaya Sevana, Ranmit Sevana, Sathhiru Sevana and N.H.S Apartments at Maligawatta were undergoing quarantine. “Those who are suffering from long term illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, epilepsy, wheezing, high blood cholesterol, kidney disease or cancer are at high risk of contracting COVID-19, and also developing complications from the infection. “Therefore, it is important to continue taking usual medicines to avoid risk of contracting the virus. “Inform the police officer or the Urban Development Authority (UDA) officer in charge of your floor in your housing complex that you take medicines for a long term noncommunicable diseases. “Please provide your name, age, address and the name of the dispensary or the hospital you usually take medicines, to the authorized personnel to ensure that you get the monthly pack of medicines from your usual dispensary or hospital. “Your medicine pack will be brought to you by those officers and therefore, please do not leave your house. “If you develop symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, difficulty in breathing or chest pain, call the officers or the MOH or PHI of your area immediately.
