Police Headquarters has ordered the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to launch a probe into Inspector of Police (IP) Nishantha Silva’s sudden unauthorized departure.
Silva who was attached to the CID, reportedly left for Switzerland with his family last afternoon (24).
Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ruwan Gunasekara speaking to The Sunday Morning said Silva had not applied for leave nor had informed the police.
Silva has been involved in investigating several controversial cases within the CID including the assassination of Sunday Leader Editor Lasantha Wickrematunge, the abduction and assault of Journalist Keith Noyahr, and assaults suffered by Upali Thennakoon and Namal Perera.
