Intelligence will be strengthened: Army Chief

Newly appointed Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva yesterday pledged to strengthen intelligence units in the country. Silva was addressing a press conference to inform  journalists about the  ‘Colombo Defense Seminar – 2019’.

"Intelligence units are of huge important to the army. I will make these units efficient through structural changes."  Silva said.

Responding to sentiments of foreign parties over his appointment, Silva said the President would have certainly made an informed decision on his appointment. When questioned about the negative sentiments the Tamil community had over his appointment, Silva said as Army Commander, he would  protect all communities in the country.
