Inter-provincial commuting will be allowed islandwide from the Colombo and Gampaha Districts starting tomorrow (26).
In order to accomodate the above, inter-provincial bus services will also recommence operations from tomorrow, Minister of Passenger Transport Management Mahinda Amaraweera said.
The Minister said that all bus services will be allowed to operate as per the directives and guidelines set forth by the health sector.
Accordingly, all necessary measures have also been taken to operate Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) buses to recommence operations.
However, passengers will be allowed to travel in the buses only according to the availability of seats, Amaraweera noted, adding that the Police along with the National Transport Commission (NTC) will overlook these regulations.
The Minister further said that inter-provincial bus services will not be applicable for the Colombo and Gampaha Districts.
