Sri Lanka’s Dinesh Chandimal is the latest high-profile player who will feature in the Everest Premier League, Nepal’s domestic T20 tournament. Chandimal, 31, will represent Bhairahawa Gladiators in the tournament, which will be played from 25 September to 9 October at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

“I am so excited to visit the beautiful country of Nepal and I am very much looking forward to a great Everest Premier League season with the Gladiators,” Chandimal said in a video message.

* Ashwell Prince to be Bangladesh’s new Batting Coach

Ashwell Prince has resigned as Head Coach of South Africa’s Western Province to take up a permanent role as Batting Coach of the Bangladesh men’s national team. His present stint will be till the end of the 2022 men’s T20I World Cup, to be played in Australia in October-November.

Prince was in charge of the Cobras, the franchise which has now dissolved into Western Province, Boland, and South Western Districts, from the 2016-17 season and has been with Bangladesh in a temporary capacity since their tour of Zimbabwe last month.

He remained with them during their historic T20I series win over Australia more recently, and will now be part of the set-up for the T20I World Cup later in the year.

Black Caps’ Captain Kane Williamson and several other senior players were on Tuesday (10) excluded from upcoming tours to Bangladesh and Pakistan as New Zealand focuses on the T20 World Cup. New Zealand confirmed their World Cup line-up in an unprecedented 32-man white ball squad to handle a heavy workload over the next four months. In addition to the World Cup in the UAE and tours of Bangladesh and Pakistan, New Zealand also have a Test series in India with that squad to be named next month.
