Entrepreneur Development Programme – Open Day by Entrepreneurs Unplugged

Entrepreneurs Unplugged is to host a free Zoom online event, “Entrepreneur Development Programme – Open Day”, courtesy of the Colombo Leadership Academy (CLA), today (10).  CLA Director Riaz Hassan shared with us the purpose behind the event and what one can expect from this programme that they offer.  He stated that first and foremost, the free event is so that you do not end up investing in a seven to eight-week programme that is not well suited to you. It is in order to provide a comprehensive run-through of what they offer and what CLA can do for the budding entrepreneurs, not only in Sri Lanka, but globally.   He said that the youth entrepreneurship programme gives you the tools, knowledge, and skills for you to kick-start your dream and business idea into a full-fledged business. “Together with your drive and passion in your area of interest and the guidance by experienced faculty, you can get your business propelling towards its success,” Riaz said. CLA, as a service, is an executive coaching entity, and Riaz was adamant in stressing that they do not in fact provide training, but rather coach those who are already at executive levels in their respective fields to achieve their fuller potentials, in achieving senior levels of management and/or hierarchy.  Additionally, they have the Young Entrepreneurship Development Programme, which according to Riaz, is the only one of its kind in Sri Lanka, and it is there to equip young, hopeful entrepreneurs with the necessary business and industry knowledge and skills to keep them up to date of all the new developments of the business world. Their efforts are to place them in a better position to win the challenges with a strong foundation for their entrepreneurial endeavours.  The programme will ensure well-rounded entrepreneurial and leadership coaching, covering all aspects relating to starting a new business in Sri Lanka, with comprehensive knowledge and practical guidance in new business idea generation, market analysis, business incubation, business model development, prototype development and simulation, creating brand value and innovation, intellectual property and legal matters, leadership and HR, and go-to-market strategy. He said that the above mentioned elements are what many do not factor in when launching their often good ideas. “Young people are often over-passionate and possessed by their idea which they have thought about extensively by themselves and maybe with a good friend and are soon ready to launch, but there are many elements they do not consider, and three months down the line they face difficulty,” Riaz said.  What CLA can offer you is assistance from certified personnel to help you work around your idea, Riaz said that millennials are coming up with endless novel ideas; they just need a framework to implement them. Their programme offers an eight-module journey which will start from the very beginning, which happens to be assessing whether you have the entrepreneur DNA – he said that there are those who are risk savvy and such people are often better suited for the entrepreneurship lifestyle, and those persons are slightly different to those who prefer stability, looking for a salaried job.  Upon the completion of your programme, Riaz provided that much unlike any diploma or degree programme, you will emerge with a real-time business proposal which allows you to walk out as an entrepreneur with the ability to set sail your idea effectively.  Riaz said that as they launched their programme, they felt that Sri Lanka needed value addition to become successful entrepreneurs and during these pandemic times, their programme, which is largely online on Zoom conferences and such, has reached the global audience as well, with many from Canada, the Middle East and the UK tuning into their many programmes on “Life after Covid” and such, which are all subscription-based programmes gaining a lot of traction.    Riaz shared that they do not let financial worries suppress your drive or passion for success of a business of your own, which is why they take a step further to facilitate start-up funds to fulfil your initial funding requirements with their partner institutions as well, while also being ready to support the participants further with post-programme mentoring, as they are very much aware that it goes far beyond merely launching a brand and that it requires much planning and hard work.  The Young Entrepreneurship Programme will be conducted once a week for a duration of two months. Sessions will be held online through video conferencing from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Find out the dates of the next batch to enrol.
