Italy and Singapore impose restrictions on Sri Lankan travellers

The Singaporean Ministry of Health has stated that the entry of all long-term pass holders and short-term visitors with recent travel history including transit to Sri Lanka within the last 14 days will be banned. The ban will come into effect from today (01) and will go on until further notice. The conditions have also included visitors from Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan as well. According to the Ministry, the ban will also apply to all those who had obtained prior approval for entry into Singapore. Singapore said it will prohibit ship crew changes for personnel with recent travel history to Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka as well. Meanwhile, Italy has also banned the entry of Sri Lankans due to the rise in Covid-19 infections. Other countries such as the UK, USA and Australia have cautioned their citizens against travel to Sri Lanka with the rise in COVID cases.
